Is The Fight Worth It?
Do you get tired and weary from trying to do the right thing? Still facing battles even though you are a Christian? About to give up on your faith? Let 2 Timothy 4 encourage you! #YFA #iDevo
Paul is urging Timothy (as well as all of us) in 2 Timothy 4 to keep preaching the gospel, to be prepared, to patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage the people with good teaching. He also warns Timothy that people will follow their own desires and will look for teachers that will tell them what they want to hear. They will reject the truth and accept untruths. Sound familiar in 2020?
God has called us to be the light. God has called us to be a witness and reach unbelievers. God has called us to teach the truth of His Word! God has called us to live a life that is poured out to Him. As a Christian, you may feel like you are out on a limb by yourself. It may seem like everything you are doing is in vain. It might appear that no one even cares or is listening. And you may even face opposition from those around you. Don’t get discouraged. Don’t lose the faith. Don’t quit! Don’t stop living for Christ.
Paul goes on to tell Timothy to not be afraid of suffering for the Lord. He encourages him to continue to carry out the ministry that he has been called to do. He also says that he has fought the good fight, finished the race, and remained faithful. And his prize . . . the crown of righteousness!! Paul gave these words to encourage Timothy so that no matter how difficult the fight seems, to keep fighting. And there is good news for us . . . those words of encouragement are for us as well!! Keep going, keep running the race! The “prize” is not just for Paul, it is for ALL who remain faithful! When we are in heaven with Jesus Christ, we will discover that the FIGHT WAS WORTH IT ALL!
