2 Timothy 3.png

We live in a day and age where people think the Bible is not true or partially true. Paul even gave Timothy a warning that applies to us and how people can be turned away from the truth. That they will love only money, be prideful, laugh (scoff) at God, disobedient, ungrateful, unloving, unforgiving, slander others, no self control, betray others, reckless, love pleasure more than God, and they will deceive people. (verses 1-9) It is a scary time and we see this as society turns more and more to this standard instead of God’s standard. People try to convince believers only part of the Bible is true or that something should not apply anymore because people want to justify their sin.

The end of Timothy though says something else, in verses 16-17 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” All means 100% not 80%, not 90%, or even 99.99% The entire Bible not just the New Testament or just the Old is inspired by God and can teach us what is true (training), what is wrong (rebuking), Corrects us (correcting) and teaches us (teaching). That means we have a choice to make we can choose to accept the entire Bible as the inspired word of God or reject it. There is no in between because in between leads us back to the warning Paul gave Timothy at the beginning of the chapter.
