Be Careful Who You Listen Too
What is the source of the words being spoken to you? Check out Proverbs 27. #YFA #iDevo
The words spoken to us can seem good and in the end be bad for us or they can seem bad and end up helping us. What determines this is the source where the words come from. The thing is we gravitate to what we want or desire to hear and it can become easy to be fooled into listening to someone who has their self interest over are own. Or that they are saying nice things because of what they want or need from us. Let’s be honest we like when someone praises us, or pays attention to us even if that is not the best thing for us. Solomon warns us to be careful of those with ulterior motives and be careful of the kisses of the enemy because we may not even realize they are the enemy and against us until it is too late. On the flip side we are challenged to surround ourselves with people who will be honest with us. To share God’s truth even if it can hurt a bit. The idea is that we need people around us who will sharpen us and us them. Being honest and helping each other grow.
So today take some time and search out who you have been listening too and if they are the best person from whom you should be listening.
