Who's Greater?
Do you feel like you are getting everything you deserve or should you get more? Check out Proverbs 25. #YFA #iDevo
A lot of us wonder who is greater Batman or Superman, Marvel or DC. Star Wars or Star Trek. The list goes on and we see one side as better than the other. In the same way we compare things we can do that with ourselves and other people. Even the disciples were not immune to this and spent a lot of time arguing about who was greater even right up to and during the last supper. King Solomon though gives us a warning in Proverbs 25 to be careful in our thinking on who’s greater or expecting things when it comes to ourselves. The thing is a lot of times people can fall into one of two areas, the people who think more highly of themselves than they should and those who think pretty lower about themselves. The pessimist or the optimist.
The thing is as believers we are called and challenged to do great things. The disciples healed the sick, cast out demons, and did extraordinary things because of the power of God. Jesus said even greater things will we do in His name. So like the disciples it can get easy to have a big head and to think more highly of ourselves than we should. Our egos take hold and can leave us embarrassed and alone. The counter to this is humbleness. Where we lay ourselves at the feet of Jesus and remember He is Lord and everything we can do and have done is because of Him.
So be careful as you do great things for God that your ego does not take you places you physically can’t go.. That was the issue King Solomon pointed out as ego makes us expect the best whether position, title, seat, or something else. Yet it is also where we can get embarrassed for being too full of ourselves.
