Believers Are Leaders

Have you ever thought about how you influence others? Do you see yourself as a leader? Are you setting the example? Check out what Paul has to say in 1 Timothy 3.

Timothy was one of Paul’s closest companions, his son in the faith. Paul had sent Timothy to the church at Ephesus to deal with some false teaching that was taking place there. Timothy was a young leader in ministry so Paul wrote this letter to give him encouragement, instruction, advice, and wisdom.

Paul explains in Chapter 3 the qualifications of being a leader in the church.  He lays out some expectations that require a standard of excellence. According to these verses, being a church leader is a big deal! It is a huge responsibility! You may say, “this doesn’t apply to me because I’m not a leader in my church”. Well, let’s rethink!!

Even if you never plan on being a leader in the church, you are still a leader in some way. There is someone watching your life. There is someone looking up to you. You have an influence on your family, your friends, your teachers, your co-workers, and even that acquaintance that you don’t really even know that well. Your actions speak loud to others! We should evaluate the choices and decisions we make to make sure our life is lining up with the Word of God.

ALL believers should try to follow the guidelines in 1 Timothy 3! These instructions are not only for Timothy or church leaders, but they are for us as well. They show us and teach us how we as believers should conduct ourselves. We should apply what God says in His Word through Paul to our own lives. We should set the example of how to live a Godly life as a Christian leader. We should strive to meet what God says is right and true! Why? Because IF YOU ARE A BELIEVER, YOU ARE A LEADER!
