Clean Your Mouth With Soap!

Have your parents ever threatened to wash your mouth out with soap?  Do you have a hard time with cursing or swearing? Are you convicted about it?  Consider what Solomon said in Proverbs 8:6-8, 13. #YFA #iDevo

The book of Proverbs has a lot to say about wisdom.  Wisdom is something the Christian should strive to possess.  James tells us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask God for it (James 1:5).  It’s a lifelong process & journey!

According to Solomon, you can say you’re striving to possess wisdom, and at the same time have a fowl mouth.  That’s tough! We all want wisdom. We all want to make wise decisions, right? But the two mindsets - wanting wisdom and also saying inappropriate things - can’t coexist.  You have to choose, and this is the best month to CHOOSE to seek wisdom and simultaneously clean up the dirty mouth! It’s a new year. A new start. A do-over. An opportunity to start all over.  Don’t wait. Do it now. Ask God to forgive you for cursing and swearing and stinkin’ thinkin’ and start fresh! That’s what God wants, and if you want God’s wisdom in 2020 you have to start somewhere.  Why not with your mouth? Consider these verses . . .

Proverbs 8:6-8, 13 - “I open my lips to speak what is right.  My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.  All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.

“To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.”

So . . . what will it be?  Wickedness? Perverseness? Lies?

Or wisdom?  Purity? Truth?  It’s time to CLEAN OUT YOUR MOUTH WITH SOAP!
