Forgiveness?

So many times we hear the words God will forgive me, and while that is true if we approach Him with a repentant heart. There is something God would prefer us to do. From King Solomon in Proverbs 31:3 to Samuel (1 Sam 15:22-23 ) to Paul (Romans 6:1-7) The idea is that God would prefer we pursue righteousness over using His grace and forgiveness as a get out of jail free card.

The thing is none of us are perfect, we will all make mistakes but their is a difference between an occasional slip up and continual sin or committing a sin with the plan to just ask God to forgive us. He desires us to do better and He expects us to do better. The main thing we need to do is keep our eyes on Him, listen to His voice, and follow His Word.

Have you been using God’s grace and forgiveness as a crutch, today is the day to make a new commitment to become free of any chains that have been binding you and strive to live a life worthy of the sacrifice Christ made for us.
