Can you imagine leading your men only to return home fine your home burned to the ground, everything destroyed, and your family captured by the enemy. Not only was David’s personal life destroyed but his professional one as well. He did not even have his job as king because everyone wanted him dead for the city being destroyed and their families taken away. David had no where to turn and all hope seemed lost. 600 men against armies of thousands or more are not great odds. Yet it says David found strength in the Lord.

In the same way we may find a situation in our lives where the world seems to be falling apart and everything is crashing down around us. We can choose self pity and despair or we can turn like David and find our hope and strength in the Lord.
