Handling Negativity
Someone will always be afraid of your success, how will you handle it? Check out 1 Sam 29:1-11. #iDevo #YFA #LivingLeadership
Most of us have had the one negative person or maybe lots of negative people who doubt who we are or what God has called us to do. It does not matter how much we may have changed or how God has used us in the past they focus on how we are not able to do anything in the future. They doubt our abilities, strength, conviction, and even loyalty when we may have not done anything wrong.
This is what happened to David. First he was too successful for King Saul and the king tried to have him killed. Now all the other Philistine commanders were jealous of him because of his success and favor with the king. There was always someone to be negative and try to bring him down. It even continues years later when David’s son Absalom tried to take over as king.
Our response though to negativity will have a big impact on our lives. Criticism whether justified or not can very quickly cause us to feel bad, look down on ourselves, or see ourselves as a failure even though God sees us as a success. People will try to use our past mistakes to take away our bright future but we have a choice. The choice is to listen to the negativity whether coming from people, even sometimes someone we respect, or our own self doubt. Or we can listen to God, the one who created us, who restored us, who equips us, and empowers us. God looks at us not as how we used to be (our past) or how we even are right now (our present). He looks at us how we will be when we have fully surrendered our lives and legacy to him. Our future is decided as a child of God the question is do we hold on to God’s view of us or someone elses?
