The Holiness of God: How the Angels Respond
“And one called to another and said: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!’ ” -Isaiah 6:3
“And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, ‘Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!’ ” -Revelation 4:8
In these two Scripture passages, we get a glimpse of being in God’s full presence. In both instances, there are angels flying all around God. God’s presence is so incredibly glorious and set apart to them that all the angels can do all day and all night is scream, “Holy, holy, holy!”
These are angels we’re talking about here. They’ve been in the presence of God for quite a while. They have the privilege of being with him 24/7. And their response to that is to cry out, “Holy, Holy, Holy,” all day and all night.
How many times do we approach God this way? How might this view of God’s holiness and splendor change the way you worship?
