Who Are You Listening To?

Ever hear words that sound to good to be true? It can be easy to listen to a lie if you are not careful. Check out Isaiah 38. #YFA #iDevo

People can be good at hiding the truth or giving a half truth that really is an outright lie. For the Israelites they faced a huge army. One that it looked like they could not defeat on their own. They would need some type of outside help. Man’s idea was Egypt, the Syran’s were themselves, yet King Hezekiah had a different thought, place faith and trust in God. Reality made that perspective seem strange and it could be seen in the leaders that met the Syran Army. Don’t talk in our native language because of how bad things look. They were worried but at the same time they trusted their king and obeyed his commands. Rabshaken though did everything he could to perpetrate the lie. He pointed out no help coming from outside sources which was not Hezekiah’s plan anyway. He distorted the high places and idols being torn down as it being God and not false God’s, he offered a bribe and made sure everyone could hear. The lie was simple don’t trust God because he can’t save you and neither can any of your allies. Instead trust us the Syran conquerors and take the easy road.

A lot of times it can be the same way for us, in the middle of our crisis we are given 1 truth and 2 lies and we have to know which is which. Do we look to man or our own abilities to see us through. take the shortcut easy way out that seems right at the time, or continue to stand firm and have our faith and trust in God? In the end the truth is clear for believers, the question is are we listening to the truth and listening for it or have we closed our ears and mind because our present circumstances are overwhelming us.
