Where Will You Turn_.png

The people of Damascus had turned from God. They depended on their own strength. They looked for help from their idols that they had created with their own hands. They bowed down to their Asherah poles and worshipped pagan shrines that they had built. They had become powerful and successful in their own eyes.  However, there was a price to pay for turning away from God! God gives Isaiah a message about Damascus in chapter 17. God said that Damascus would be completely destroyed and the royal power of Damascus would end.

The people of Damascus had a choice . . . to turn to God or turn away from Him. You have a choice as well. There are so many things that can steer your attention away from God if you are not careful. Success, money, jobs, status, drugs, alcohol, peer pressure, etc. can all be avenues of getting you off track. You have to guard yourself from falling into the trappings of these temporal things to give fulfillment. Having a large bank can’t save you. Turning to drugs and alcohol can’t and won’t fix your problems. Giving in to peer pressure won’t help you. You must turn from these false allurements that can get your eyes off God!

So where should you turn?? The answer is to God! Look to your Creator, the Holy One. Verse 11 says that they had turned from the God who could save them and they had forgotten the Rock who could hide them. God can save you! God can heal you! God can protect you! God can provide for you! God can help you! He is the answer, but the question is . . . what will you choose? . . . WHERE WILL YOU TURN??
