Consequences

Are the consequences for not reading and learning the Bible? Check out Isaiah 5

For a lot of us our time management can get the better of us. The end of the year approaches and we say I will do better next year on reading the Word of God. We may even start a 1 year Bible but by January, February, or March we are far behind our goals. In the end we listen to sermons and hear other people share but is it enough?

The truth is God wants to know each of us and us Him and one of the ways we do that is reading the word of God it explains who He is and His plan for our lives and the world. The thing is when we only listen to what someone else learned or worst not even listen to that we miss putting the word of God on our hearts.

Paul describes it as a sword and Isaiah says those who don’t have its knowledge are in trouble. If you have ever seen Star Wars (light sabers) or movies where swords were the primary weapon to battle with. They require training and practice. Lots and lots of it too to be exceptionally skilled and master the weapon. Well the word of God is the same way, Jesus wielded it to defeat satan 3 times in the desert (It is written!)

So today make a commitment to get into and read the word of God. You don’t have to finish the Bible in a year, you do have to open its pages and daily meditate on what is written in it.
