Response to Adversity
What's your first response to problems? Check out 1 Samuel 23. #iDevo #YFA #LivingLeadership
Have you ever asked yourself what your first response to a problem or adversity is? A lot of times, at least for me, we try to fix things on our own. We either rack our brains coming up with a solution or we try to ignore the problem and hope it goes away. It is only when we have exhausted every option or the problem is in our face and will not go away that we finally and begrudgingly turn to God. David though gives us a different response when faced with challenges and problems.
In verse 2, 4, 11, and 12 it says David asked the Lord. His first response to a challenge, worry, fear or need of direction was to ask God what he should do. In the same way when a problem comes our way we need our first response to be the same where we seek God’s face and His direction instead of trying to do it on our own.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.”
So the next time you face adversity or a problem make pray your first response instead of your last resort.
