Jealous of someone?

What is your response to someone being more successful than you? Check out 1 Sam 18:1-16. Is that good or bad? #iDevo #YFA #LivingLeadership

David became immensely successful serving the king. So successful that at the end of the chapter it talks about him being more successful than any other commander of the army. That is crazy successful for basically a middle school age boy that had never been trained for war. He was more successful than the king, than the king’s son Jonathan, who had already made a name for himself in battle, as well as every adult commander that had been trained. It made Saul a little jealous and his response to that jealousy could have went a couple of different ways.

In the same way as leaders what happens when someone new comes onto the seen. Whether is is in school, sports, activities, work, or ministry. A lot of times we may find someone with more raw talent than us. We have the choice to be jealous and try to sabotage their success or we can choose to help them grow and be even more successful than we are.

A good leader is one that raises people up, not tears them down. So as you meet the person who may be better at something decide whether you will be like Saul and try to cause them to fail or choose to be a leader that helps them succeed.
