Passion: Purified For Good Works
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” - Titus 2:11-14
What are you passionate about?
According to this passage of Scripture, one of the reasons Jesus died for us is so that we would be passionate (that’s what zealous means) about good works. His sacrifice made us pure from sin. Sin clouds our vision. And when we can’t see the world clearly, we can’t see God as clearly, we can’t see people as clearly, and we can’t see our heart as clearly. Matthew 5:8 says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Jesus purified us from that fogginess.
If you’ve let your spiritual vision get foggy, pray for God to wipe your eyes clean again. And once you can see, act! Be passionate for good works. Serve others, attack poverty, rescue those in need, encourage, preach, share the gospel. This is what you were saved for!
