The Life of Moses: God's Calling!
Exodus 4:1 Then Moses said, “What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’”
How many times do we feel like Moses, doubting ourselves and what God has called us to do. Moses made excuse after excuse to God trying to explain why he was not the right person but the truth is he was God’s pick and his faults, failures, and inadequacies did not matter. In Moses’ eyes he saw himself as a murderer (Exodus 2:12), a failed leader (Exodus 2:14), a no body, (Exodus 4:1), and a bad speaker that no one would listen to (Exodus 4:10). Yet for all of Moses’ perceived faults God picked him out of all the people of Israel.
God does the same thing with us. He is not looking for the person who has it all together, that can accomplish the task without any help. He is looking for us, the person with faults, failings, self-doubt, inadequacies, and imperfections. He wants us because in our weakness He will produce strength and through us He will should the world what He can do.
One of my favorite quotes is by GK Chesterton, “God does not call the equipped, He equips the called.” God has a plan and purpose for your life. You may not thing you are ready to fulfill it or even that someone else should. But God believes in you, if He has called you, He will equip you. He will raise you up, strengthen you, and see you through the task at hand. The question is will you trust Him and place your faith in Him today?
