He's Holy, but He Hears

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.” -Psalm 40:1

I’ll cut to the chase on this one, because I’m so pumped up about it. You know what’s crazy? Our God, the all-powerful Creator of the universe, actually hears us. Now, I’m not saying that it’s surprising that he is capable of hearing us, because he is God - of course he can hear us. What’s amazing to me is that he CHOOSES to hear us. He CHOOSES to be near to us. He even CHOOSES to reveal himself to us!

Think about it - this is a God who is so holy that angels cover their faces and constantly say, “Holy, holy, holy” (Isaiah 6:1-7). This is a God who is so holy that anyone who touched, or sometimes even looked at, the Ark of the Covenant died on the spot (2 Samuel 6:5-15; 1 Samuel 6). This is a God who is so holy that if anyone touched Mount Sinai without permission, they died (Exodus 19:9-14).

He is that holy, and yet he wants to be close to us, wants to listen to us, and wants to be close to us. Wow. When I really think about this, I just have to worship. Go on, stop reading and just worship him. Call out to him, and he will hear you!
