Rest
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30
This week, we have seen that when God is our foundation, we have strength, we have courage, we have protection, and we have victory. Today, let’s focus on this one thing: when God is our foundation, we have rest.
This life will throw all sorts of curveballs at you. Yes, you will suffer. Yes, you will have pain. You’ll fight uphill battles that seem like they will never end. You’ll preach the gospel and have people laugh at you, spit at you, and maybe even beat you. But when you have God as your foundation, you will have REST. He will comfort your innermost being. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
You don’t have anything to worry about, because God will comfort you with a peace that transcends all understanding. You may be tired and worn, but Jesus is there to carry the burden of this life with you. In him you will find rest!
