Ascend the Hill

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” -Hebrews 4:16

Who is your favorite pastor/Christian speaker? Go ahead, think of someone. When you think of that person, think about why you like them so much. Hopefully it’s because he/she is a good speaker, is really close to God, and teaches things that are biblically accurate. Maybe this person has greatly influenced you in your faith.

Did you know that there’s something even better? Speakers and teachers are such important parts of the body of Christ, but think about this: we can talk to God ourselves! Because Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the dead, the veil between God and man as torn and the Spirit of God was poured out over all believers. You are one of those believers if you profess Christ. You have the Holy Spirit within you, and you can talk to God. Why settle for just a speaker when you can meet with God face to face? In Exodus, the Israelites had to rely on Moses to go up to Mount Sinai and hear from God. But today, you can ascend the hill to God’s throne.

Don’t just settle for what these leaders of the Church say. Search the Word of God yourself and pray to him about the teaching that you hear. Grow in your relationship with him.

This should excite you! You can speak to God! This is the same God that destroyed the entire population of the world in a flood. This is the same God who parted the Red Sea. This is the same God who sent down fire from heaven before Elijah and the prophets of Baal. This is the same God who created the universe. This is the same God who rose Jesus from the dead. And you can talk to him face to face without fear of condemnation!

Wow. Brothers and sisters, take advantage of this. Your God wants you to get to know him. Why are you still reading this? Go! Get to know him!
