Time for a Check Up

“Examine yourself as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. .. “ -2 Corinthians 13:5

What evidence is there that Christ is in you.? Do you give yourself a regular check up.? Is there evidence and not just hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you.?

Inviting Jesus to come into your life in the past is not proof that you are genuinely saved. If there is no evidence of salvation in your life now, you need to face the fact that you may not be a Christian. Examine yourself to see whether you are in the faith. How does one do that? Jesus shows us in the Sermon on the Mount. -Matthew 5-7

Righteousness characterizes true conversion. Attending church regularly, paying tithes, fasting, and praying constantly is not evidence of your salvation.

Living by God's standards—is what sets you apart as God's child. Your profession of Christ  should mean nothing apart from obedience and holiness.

Some people believe you can come to Jesus Christ without a consequent change in lifestyle. But.! God expects a transformation.! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "If any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creation; OLD things are passed away; behold, ALL THINGS  become NEW."

Being righteous doesn't mean we will never sin; it means we confess our sin to the Lord, repent of it, and despise it (turn away from it). Those who are genuinely saved are righteous and holy. They still sin, but with decreasing frequency. A true believer hates  sin -Romans 7:15-25 and repents of it, hungering and thirsting for what is right. No one can be a Christian and continue living the way they did and continue doing the things they always did before they knew Christ.

The issue is ..What is your life like right now.?

The Kingdom belongs only to those who are poor in spirit.-Matthew 5:3 Only those who admit their spiritual bankruptcy and sinfulness can enter the Kingdom. When a person is poor in spirit, mournful about his sin, and meek, then he will hunger and thirst after righteousness, and he will be filled. If you haven't come to Jesus Christ shattered over your sinfulness, and hungering and thirsting after righteousness, you are not a Christian.

Whoever wants to come to Jesus must come on His terms: mourning over their sin, and desiring righteousness.

When we come on those terms, the Lord makes us merciful, pure in heart, and a peacemaker. Then because of what we are, people will persecute us, revile us, and say false things about us. But we will rejoice anyway, because we know we are citizens of God’s Kingdom.

With all humility look to God for what you need. Humility is not shocked to discover its own weaknesses, having learned to trust God’s strength. Nor do the humble take faith for granted, alway draw near to God, distrusting self.  We should always practice regular, diligent self-examination.
