Does your authority give you the right to treat people with disrespect? Who was right the king or queen? Check out Esther 1:10-22 #YFA #iDevo #WordsMatter

There is an old saying, you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. The king had the authority to order anyone around yet the question is should he. In Esther Chapter 1, we find out the king partied a little too much and had gotten drunk. He then decided to parade his beautiful wife in front of all his drunk friends. She refused his command and it cost her everything.

Truth is the king made two mistakes. First he got drunk, drinking will always lead to problems because it clouds our mind and our judgement. It is something to be wary of and avoid. Second, he demanded when he could have asked. Think about it this way, imagine if instead of demanding or ordering his wife. He asked her nicely to join him. Think her response might have been different?

Here is the deal, your WORDS MATTER. Especially in the way and tone that you say them. As believers we are called to be different from the world and that means our words should be drawing people to Christ and not pushing them away. So the next time you go to speak think about if your tone and the way you are talking to someone is more like honey or vinegar.
