Teaching: Hard Workers

2 Timothy 2:15 Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.

The idea of teaching God’s word to others can seem like a challenging undertaking. 2 Timothy 2:15 gives us an outline of how to get started in successfully communicating the truths of scripture to others.

  1. Work Hard- Teaching God’s Word deserves your best effort, not your leftovers. Take time to learn your material. Find mentors like your pastor oryouth leader.
  2. Present yourself to God- Let your studying and teaching be an act of worship. Giving glory to God is the ultimate purpose of teaching.
  3. A worker who does not need to be ashamed- Submit your weakness and failures to God. Set your heart on living in a way that is pleasing to God. People will be more receptive to you as a teacher if your actions line up with your words.
  4. Correctly explains the word of truth- Have a good understanding of the scripture before and after the portion you are teaching. Make sure what you are teaching lines up with the overall message of scripture.
