Partiality: Racism and M & M's
“Red and yellow, black and white, they are all precious in His sight….”
Do you recognize this song? If you went to church at any point throughout your childhood you could probably sing “Jesus loves the Little Children” by heart!
When I sing this song it reminds me of M & M’s…
No matter what color of delicious, candy-coated chocolate goodness I eat, they are ALL precious to me! That is how God sees us as well, no matter what skin color we have on the outside, we are still valued and loved by Him.
As Christ followers, we should make an effort to have this attitude about our fellow brothers and sisters as well.
Galatians 3:28 says “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (ESV)
Paul wrote this passage to the church in Galatia. He was trying to explain to the church members there how Jesus’ sacrifice covers over the sin of not only the Jews (religious people of the time) but the Gentiles (the non-Jews…AKA you and me!)
Jesus made an effort to reach out to people of all nations and tongues. He expects us to do the same in our schools and our communities.
How are you going to reach out to someone who is different from you this week? Tell us your plan in the comments!
