God's Justice: For All Those People That Need a Good Punch in the Face

“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’ ” -Romans 12:19

Be honest with me for a second - some people just need a good punch in the face, don’t they? I secretly believe that if some people just got a good whack in the kisser, the world would be a better place. And if not, at least I’d have the satisfaction of putting someone in their place.

But that’s not our job, is it?

Unfortunately, punching people in the face is not typically in God’s plan for our lives. Revenge was never ours to bear. And if you don’t believe me, don’t take my word for it. Jesus says in Matthew 5:39, “But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.” Crap. Now I’M the one getting his face whooped.

But the cool thing is, justice will eventually be served; we just won’t be the ones to do it. Romans 12:19 says that vengeance is God’s alone, and he will repay.

So leave the face-thumping to God and love on people. It may not seem fair, but fairness will come!
