Change: An Unchangeable God

Hebrews 6:18 - “So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.”

We live in a constantly changing world and for some of us that change can be overwhelming. Sometimes the change is a tragedy in which we lose our job, a loved one dies or gets sick, or something else bad happens to us. This is like the change Job experiences in the book of Job. Then there are good changes, things like graduation, a promotion, getting engaged/married, to name a few. There are also changes that can be both good or bad like moving to a new city, changing schools, or starting a new job.

All in all we continually go through change because of our ever changing circumstances. The thing is we have two choices when it comes to our circumstances and change. This is where our reaction to our changing circumstances is so important because, we can either let our circumstances change us or we can overcome our circumstances.

Now it can be easy to get overwhelmed, anxious, and afraid when change happens but what we need to realize is that no matter what change we are going through we serve and unchangeable God!

1.      Change is not something to Fear. (Check out Philippians 4:6-7)

There is nothing we need to be worried or anxious about. Turn it over to God and he will give you a peace that can overcome your fear!

2.      We Can Overcome Change! (Check out 2 Corinthians 4:8-9) 

Maybe the change you are facing is overwhelming. Know that God can help us through the change and while we may feel overwhelmed in the present, know that you can make it!

3.      We have a foundation in God’s promises, and He is unchanging (Check out Hebrews 6:18).

God has to be our ultimate foundation, and the great thing is His promises are true, and He does not go back on His word!

So no matter what you are going through today, know that you serve an unchangeable God who can help you get through your current circumstances and give you the boldness and strength to overcome it!
