Healing: Faith + God's Will = Healing
“And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him. That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.’ ” -Matthew 8:14-17
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.” -John 14:12
Healing. What a touchy subject. I could say that God heals who he wants to heal and our faith has no say in the matter. But then that would disregard all of the healings of the apostles in the Scriptures as well as when Jesus says that his followers will do even greater works than he did. I could also say that any time we pray in faith for someone to be healed, then God listens and will heal that person. But then I’d have to face a huge line of people who were most certainly not healed.
So where can we fall on this issue?
Well, the bible certainly says that we have the power to heal people. There is absolutely no question of that. All throughout the bible, believers heal other people. This is because of the power of the Holy Spirit, whom all believers have in them today. Jesus does also say, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
What it comes down to is this: PRAYING GOD’S WILL.
The more we pray, the more we will begin to understand God’s will. And when we pray according to God’s will, we will ALWAYS receive an answer to prayer. In this way, prayer is more of a response to God’s words to us, not us begging for a response from God.
So healing is possible - you just need two ingredients: faith and God’s will.
