Preparing for Easter: The Death of Jesus
Romans 3:23 - “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death.”
1 Timothy 2:6 - “Jesus gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.”
In Romans 3:23, we find that every person in the world is a sinner. In Romans 6:23, we see that all sinners deserve to die. Jesus, unlike us, lived a holy, perfect life. Because of that, He didn’t deserve death. Since we were destined for death, however, Jesus chose to die on the cross, thus covering our sins. God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins! This gives us the freedom to have an open, thriving relationship with God! Before, we were separated from God because of our sin. Now because of Jesus’s death on the cross, we are saved by grace and can have a relationship with God!
1. Do you recognize that you are a sinner?
2. Do you believe that God can forgive your biggest, darkest sin?
3. After repenting your sins to God, how will you live your life with your newfound freedom?
a. Will you continue to live in your old lifestyle?
b. Will you change your life to live the way God has called you to live?
