What’s Your Foundation?

Matthew 7:24-27 ““Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

Did you know that where ever you build, if you dig down deep enough you can find solid rock? It means every builder can have a solid foundation just like we to have been given an opportunity for a solid foundation with our life. The thing about the wise and foolish instead is not as much where they built but in how deep and how much work they put into it. For the foolish they took the easy way out. They never dug deep they just built at the first thing they saw. We sometimes do the same thing, we are bombarded by news articles, social media posts, even false teachings about the Bible. They sound ok on the surface but they are shifting sand that digging a little deeper exposes the truth.

The wise builder dug deep, they found their solid foundation and with it built a house that could withstand anything life threw at them. That is our calling and the choice we must make too. We have to have God as our foundation and we have to dig into His word. Don’t just take what the world tells you to believe but learn and study it yourself.
