God Isn't Going to Answer Your Prayers
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life.’” -John 14:6a
“I know now, Lord, why you utter no answer. You are yourself the answer. Before your face questions die away. What other answer would suffice?” -C. S. Lewis
Do you ever wonder why your prayers sometimes seem to go unanswered? Sure, if you are praying for something contrary to God’s will then it won’t be answered. But that’s not what I’m talking about. Have you ever prayed for courage and not received it? Have you ever prayed for comfort and yet only spiraled deeper into depression? Have you ever prayed for greater faith and were met with crippling doubt? What about the biggest question of all - Why? Why do I feel this pain? Why was my mother killed? Why did you let my sister commit suicide? Why don’t you just show yourself?
God isn’t going to answer you. That’s because God IS the answer. When in the face of doubt, fear, pain, persecution, immorality, death, God IS the answer. Before him, all questions die away because we are met with raw reality, pure truth, absolute love.
Instead of pursuing answers, pursue God! He is the way, the truth, and the life. In him, you will find those things. In him you will live. Apart from him, you will die. Pursue him! Pursue him! Pursue him!
Are you doubting? Search for God! Are you suffering? Chase after the Lord! Are you angry? Rest in him! In everything, God is the Great I AM.
Go! Run to him, friends!
