Don't Tell God How Big Your Problem Is
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." -Proverbs 3:5
That's right, don't tell God how big your problem is. It's not that God doesn't want you to be honest, and it's not that talking to God about your problem isn't worth it. However, we can become obsessed with our problems and not even realize it.
It's good to pray about our problems, but the majority of the time we spend praying about our problems is telling God how bad we have it. I know your struggles are real, and I do not mean to undermine them by any means, but stop telling God how big your problem is and start telling your problem how big God is!
There is nothing that you will face, nothing that you will struggle with, nothing that will attack you that is a challenge to God. God has not and will not ever be challenged by anything. Your struggles pale in comparison to God's great strength.
Sometimes we wallow in our problems, asking God to comfort us because we have it so badly. This does nothing for us! God has given us a "Spirit of power!" (2 Timothy 1:7) His Holy Spirit dwells within us, giving us the authority to speak the truth of God's power in our lives! Declare God's sovereignty over your life! Declare his healing over your wounds! Declare his truth over your doubt! Declare his peace over your pain! Declare his wrath over Satan! It is by Christ's "wounds you have been healed!" (1 Peter 2:24) He has "given you authority ... over all the power of the enemy!" (Luke 10:19) Claim that power! Claim the victory!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart!" (Proverbs 3:5) He is faithful; he is strong; he is omnipotent; he is sovereign; he is Lord! And he cares about you! Just as God heard the cry of the Israelites in Egypt, (Exodus 3:7) so he hears your cry for help and your prayers for healing!
Do not be discouraged, and begin to pray according to God's truth. Pray in confidence against the work of Satan in your life. God is on your side, and he certainly hears you and cares for you. Tell your problems how big your God is - they won't stand much longer!
