You Have the Power Source That Leads to Change
"What is impossible with man is possible with God." -Luke 18:27
Did you know most of the time you are your own worst enemy? It's your own reactions, your own fears, your own inadequacies that cause you to act in foolish ways. I remember years ago trying to change things in my life. I tried to change bad habits. I tried to change my husband. I tried to change my children. I tried to change situations I didn't like and I tried to change myself. There were times I experienced a little victory for a little while…but even when it appeared that everything was alright, I was still a mess inside. The truth is, you can’t change your life, at least not in any fundamental way. You can change the way you look, and, through will power, you can even change some of your thoughts and actions, but only God can change anything else.
Jesus said He came to make all things new. His death on the cross can have a profound impact on your life. Do you feel like you have tried everything or you are at the end of the rope? Paul said, "I've tried everything and nothing helps. I'm at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? The answer is that Jesus Christ can and does" (Romans 7:24-25). That's the answer; Jesus is the answer!
If you have a relationship with Jesus, you can change. Yes, He is the source. You need a Savior that can make the changes you can't make yourself. Isn’t that encouraging when it comes to trying to change things about ourselves?
We all have areas where we would like to see growth and change. Stop letting yourself get frustrated looking for salvation in the wrong places. Stop pretending everything is okay just to impress someone when you are experiencing turmoil on the inside because you have no peace or joy in life. Psalm 127:1 says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” It is not by your power, but by the grace of God through the work of His Holy Spirit, that you change and grow in life. It doesn't matter what you are trying to change if you don't plug in to your one and only true Power Source. He leads to the abundant life. If you are daily seeking God, reading scripture, and applying the truth of God’s Word by the power of His Spirit, your life will change.
Don't look at studying the Word as an obligation…remember, it's like medicine! It all comes back to God. You have to turn to Him. You were made by God, for God. Changing your life is not accomplished by moral behavior, force of will or intellectual pursuits. No matter how good, strong or intelligent you think you are, the fact remains that you are in such a desperate, wretched condition that nothing you do can get you out of it. The best you can do still falls hopelessly short of God’s standard (Isaiah 64:6). Christianity is all about God reaching down and pulling us up out of the muck. When you seek Him, He will find you. Then you can tap into His power to change your life.
Don't wait until you feel desperate. We are always desperate for God! But remember, God's grace is always sufficient! Get on track with God’s wonderful purposes for your life. You have the Power Source that leads to change waiting to connect with you!
