Unity in Christ

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.” -Ephesians 1:7-10

Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, our sins are forgiven! You probably already know that, but isn’t it a great reminder? We are all sinful people, but Jesus lavished his grace on us so that we don’t have to pay for our shortcomings. When we accept Jesus’ saving grace, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, and we can begin to know the will of God and his purpose for the world and for our own lives.

In light of this, let’s make a promise to live in unity with each other. Isn’t it easy to get upset with someone because they disagree with you? Doesn’t it seem like it’s even easier to do it in the Church? But Ephesians 1 says that God plans to unite all things in Christ. We should be a glimpse of that unity in our interactions with each other in the Church. In a world where everyone disagrees about everything, let’s shine some light on Jesus and show people that we are willing to overlook our differences for the sake of the Kingdom. After all, we are all offered the same grace.
