Humility: A Way to Deliverance
“Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” I Peter 5:5-7
God says here for us to cast all of our cares on Him, because He cares for us. This is an amazing statement by the almighty God to make, because in it, He is saying “Give to me all of the cares you hold onto, and I will give to you the care I have for you, a love unexplainable”. He is willing to take upon himself the burdens we carry, and He is willing to release us of our cares; The Great I AM steps down from Heaven for us.
Humbling ourselves to God under his hand is the way to our deliverance, the way of receiving patience under the heavy things that weigh on us, and the way to his experiencing His true pleasure. The picture of humility that we can follow is exemplified in God himself, who made himself nothing, all for love. When we are motivated by love, humility is our response. How has humility to God in your life changed you? In what ways do you need God most? Ask God what you can lay down to see Him more clearly and to lift you up in the right time.
