Sincerity: A Sincere God
2 Peter 3:9-10 "The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment."
Sometimes we go through life and we wonder why everything that happens, happens. Bad or evil people seem to be successful and the people who hurt us the most never seem to be paid back for what they have done. It makes us wonder “why God?” or “where is the lightning bolt, fire from heaven, or the Earth opening up to swallow up our enemies?”
So here is the crazy deal. We can be thankful those things do not happen. You see I’m not perfect, and I am pretty sure in my mistakes that I have made with my words, actions, and attitude, there was someone who thought God needed to strike me down, and I bet there is someone who you may have hurt in the past too. Luckily God is not us because there are a few slow drivers on the road who would have gotten a lightning bolt or something.
God, though, loves us so much that He is giving each of us time to turn back to Him. Now that time is not infinite so we should not wait. But thankfully He loves us so much that He does not judge us with the first mistake we make. So wherever you are today remember this:
1. God loves you so much, He has given you a second chance. Don’t take it for granted.
2. We do not know what the future holds, so don’t wait!
3. One day we will all stand before the King. Will it be a joyous or sorrowful day? Only you can decide the answer to that, so don’t wait!
Be ready for eternity!
